Cristiano Pintaldi

Coming directly from a successful show in New York, Cristiano Pintaldi’s pixel paintings are now on display at 1880. Cristiano Pintaldi, a master contemporary artist who has been represented in the Venice Biennale, is the only artist in the previous 300 years to have revolutionized the approach to conventional painting.

To accomplish these one-of-a-kind masterpieces, the artist begins with one single dot on a blank black canvas. An image slowly comes to life from a single dot after a painstakingly long process. In a world where everyone is going digital, he is the sole artist that is deconstructing the digital world to the manual. Using only three colours, red, green and blue (RGB), these tri colours are placed together in the same way in which the pixels are arranged on digital screens.

Pintaldi’s method necessitates a high level of mathematical precision combined with infinite patience in this extremely manual method and approach. No other artist has been able to attain such pixel painting precision: Pintaldi’s unrivalled skill has elevated him beyond his peers in terms of pushing the frontiers of painting in the twenty-first century.
